“Atypical Mind – ADHD” is an association founded by parents of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in April 2023 in Bulgaria. The organization emerged from online discussions where parents across the country discovered they were facing similar challenges – fighting isolated battles for understanding and acceptance of their children in a neurotypical world, encountering discrimination and rejection in society, educational systems, and even specialized institutions. The association works to transform these individual struggles into effective collaboration between parents and institutions to support children with ADHD. Our main activities include collecting data on diagnosed children and available support services, conducting public awareness surveys and discussions, publishing educational materials, and advocating for systemic changes in healthcare and education. We aim to raise public awareness about ADHD challenges while seeking partnerships with specialists and international organizations to improve support for children with ADHD and their families. Currently, we focus on addressing gaps in official statistics and promoting better understanding of ADHD within Bulgarian society and institutions.
